BASKETBALL MAUI STYLE

I GOT TO ELEVATE A LITTLE BIT ON SATURDAY.

During the week of May 30-June 3, 250 kids on the island of Maui were impacted eternally through basketball as Basketball Maui and NBC Camps joined forces on their second annual summer camp. I assisted by master teaching with a great group of coaches and volunteers in Lahaina. It was a solid 5 days of intense skill instruction and infusion of Christ-centered values. The theme was and is ELEVATE and we challenged these young people to elevate their TALENT, SELF-DISCIPLINE, LEADERSHIP and HUMILITY. There was no shortage of highlights but on Saturday night Basketball Maui hosted its first ever Night of Shooting Stars charity basketball game featuring Corey Maggette and John Salmons of the NBA’s Milwaukee Buks. I played on John Salmon’s team and it was a pleasure to participate and turn the clock back one mo’ time. It was an OT game for the annals as Charity games go and ended Warriors (Maggette’s squad) 107 – Whalers (My team) 106.
